Free Running Clubs in Chicago

Running probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of team sports. But — whether you’re a veteran runner or more of a newbie — running with a group every now and then can be a great way to mix up your routine, stay motivated, and meet new friends.

Are you a Chicago runner? Here are just a few of the free running clubs in Chicago that are available to runners of all levels.

Fleet Feet
This popular running store hosts “fun runs” that leave from each of its three Chicago stores several days of the week.

  • Lincoln Square (4762 N. Lincoln Ave.)
    • Mondays at 6:30pm
    • Wednesdays at 6:30pm (women only)
    • Saturdays at 8:00am
  • Old Town (1620 N. Wells Street)
    • Mondays at 6:30pm
    • Tuesdays at 6:15am and 6:30pm (evening run is women only)
  • South Loop (1145 South Delano Ct. E)
    • Mondays at 6:30pm
    • Thursdays at 6:30pm (women only)

Also, the third Monday of the month is “Pint Night” at all three Chicago locations. Participants go for a run, then hit up a local watering hole to enjoy a beer or two.

Universal Sole
Chicago-based Universal Sole has fun runs that leave from both of its store locations.

  • Lakeview (3052 N. Lincoln Ave.)
    • Mondays at 6:30pm
    • Saturdays at 8:30am
  • Lakeshore East (333 East Benton Place — Park Level)
    • Wednesdays at 6:00pm
    • Saturdays at 8:30am
