Running on a track can be a great way to mix up your running routine and keep things fresh. Haven’t run on a track since high school gym class? Be courteous to your fellow runners by practicing some basic track etiquette.
Go With the Flow
Not sure which way to run? Counter clockwise is the rule of thumb. Some tracks switch up the direction each day, though, so take note which direction other runners are going and follow their lead.
If you’ve got your music cranked up, you’ll likely be oblivious to what’s happening around you and may annoy your fellow runners. Consider leaving your earphones at home. Can’t run without your tunes? Remove one ear bud so you can hear what’s going on around you.
Clear the Way
The innermost lane is reserved for the fastest runners. If that’s not you, stick to the lanes further to the right.
