The benefits of drinking more water are endless, from boosting your immunity to aiding in healthy digestion. But the taste (or lack of taste) of plain old H20 can definitely leave something to be desired, making you more prone to reach for less healthy beverages. Add some flavor to your water – and resist the urge to turn to sugary drinks like soda — with these three ideas.
1. Juice It
Add a splash of no sugar added juice (such as unsweetened cranberry juice). Or, squeeze in a bit of lime, lemon or orange juice straight from the fruit!
2. Chill It
Pour some no sugar added juice into an ice cube tray. Or, place small fruit, such as blueberries or sliced strawberries, into the tray and pour water over the fruit. After the cubes are completely frozen, add a couple to your glass of water.
3. Infuse It
Add fresh fruit, veggies or herbs to a pitcher filled with cold water and ice. Refrigerate overnight. Or, purchase a fruit infusion water bottle, which has a special chamber to add fruit, veggies and herbs and allows you to infuse your water on the go. Search for “fruit infused water bottle” on Amazon to compare your options.
Some good options for infusion include:
- Citrus fruit
Get creative. Cucumber and mint. Watermelon and blueberries. The possibilities are endless!
